Audioengine Bookshelf Speakers A1 Editorial Review
The Audioengine A1-MR Multiroom Home Music System offers excellent sound clarity and a surprisingly loud volume despite its small size. The speakers are a great choice for those looking for compact speakers that can fit under monitors without obstruction. They work well with various streaming services such as Tidal and Spotify Premium Connect, making them versatile for both PC and mobile use. The sound quality is excellent overall, with good bass quantity and quality for an average-sized room. The speakers do not distort at higher volumes, and they handle different genres of music, including Rock, Metal, Pop, Jazz, and Classical, with ease. However, some users found the bass to be lacking, especially when used for TV or games, suggesting that a dedicated subwoofer may enhance the listening experience. Additionally, a few users mentioned that the middle frequencies could be clearer, but Considering the price, these speakers are still a good choice. The speakers have a sleek design and a small footprint, making them visually appealing for desktop use. They come with Bluetooth connectivity, but some users experienced occasional issues with the Bluetooth connection. The controls, including volume and power, are located on the back of the main unit, which may be a minor inconvenience for some users. There is also no indicator on the front panel to display whether the speakers are on or off. Overall, the Audioengine A1-MR Multiroom Home Music System offers clear sound clarity, good volume, and a compact design. While there are some minor niggles, such as the placement of controls and the lack of bass for certain users, these speakers provide a satisfying listening experience at a reasonable price point.
