What types of animals can I attract using the Highwild Digital Timer?

The Highwild Digital Timer is designed primarily to attract deer, making it ideal for hunting enthusiasts. By allowing you to schedule feed times, it effectively draws in deer, but it can also attract other wildlife like raccoons, turkeys, and squirrels. The adjustable feed rate enables you to control how much feed is dispersed, which can help in attracting different species. Use it in conjunction with your favorite feed to maximize your chances of a successful hunt.

How does the adjustable feed rate work on the Highwild Timer?

The adjustable feed rate feature on the Highwild Timer allows you to control the amount of feed dispensed during each feeding session. This is crucial for managing feed usage and ensuring that animals are not overfed or underfed. You can set a specific duration for feeding, which accommodates various types of feed and animal preferences. Being able to customize the feed rate helps you maintain a healthy feeding ecosystem around your hunting area.

Can I set multiple feeding times with the Highwild Digital Timer?

Yes, the Highwild Digital Timer allows you to set up to 8 different feed times each day. This flexibility is essential for maximizing your hunting effectiveness by attracting animals during their active feeding periods. You can customize these feeding times based on your specific hunting schedule or the times when wildlife is most present in your area. This feature supports strategic feeding, giving you better opportunities for a successful hunt.

Is the Highwild Timer weatherproof?

Yes, the Highwild Timer is constructed to withstand various weather conditions, making it suitable for outdoor use. Its durable design ensures that it remains functional even in rain, wind, and extreme temperatures. This is particularly beneficial when hunting, as you can trust that your feeder timer will operate consistently no matter the weather. Just ensure it is mounted properly to avoid direct exposure to heavy rains or flooding.

What power sources does the Highwild Timer support?

The Highwild Digital Timer supports both 6V and 12V power sources, making it versatile for different feeding systems. Using a 12V battery increases the timer's efficiency and extends its operational time, which is perfect for feeders distributed across larger areas. Opting for the right power source will ensure that your timer functions effectively and reliably throughout the hunting season.

How do I install the Highwild Digital Timer?

Installing the Highwild Digital Timer is a straightforward process. Begin by selecting the appropriate location for your feeder, ensuring it's easily accessible for both wildlife and maintenance. Next, attach the timer to your feeder according to the provided instructions, ensuring secure connections to the power source. Once installed, program your desired feed times. This setup allows you to focus on your hunting without constantly worrying about feeding schedules.

Can I use the Highwild Timer for non-hunting purposes?

Absolutely! While the Highwild Timer is primarily designed for hunting applications, it can also be used for feeding garden birds, feral animals, or in agricultural settings for livestock. Its programmability allows for versatile feeding strategies, making it a beneficial tool beyond just hunting. If you're looking to support local wildlife or manage animals on your property, this timer can help streamline your efforts.

How long does the Highwild Timer last on a single battery charge?

The duration a battery will last with the Highwild Timer depends on the number of feedings you set and the feed rate. Generally, if set for multiple feed times daily, a properly charged battery can last several weeks, making it efficient for prolonged use. Regularly checking the battery status and having a spare on hand ensures that your feeder remains operational, maximizing your hunting opportunities.

What are the benefits of having a digital timer for feeders?

A digital timer like the Highwild model offers precision and convenience over manual feeders. With the ability to schedule multiple feed times and adjust feed rates, you're able to attract wildlife more effectively and with less waste. This means you can focus more on your hunting strategy rather than constantly managing feed. The digital interface ensures ease of use and allows for quick adjustments as needed, enhancing your overall hunting experience.

Highwild Feeder Parts & Accessories Editorial Review

The timer controller features four wires, two to battery and two to motor, making it easy to set up. There are pigtails on the battery terminals to attach a solar panel for battery charging. The controller has a dimension of 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 x 3/4 inches, and it uses a 10 amp GMA glass fuse of 3/16" x 3/4" (5mm x 20mm). The timer can be programmed to turn on a device about 20 seconds a day, but it works on a daily program, not a weekly program. The timer controller also has a TEST mode that manually causes the spinner to run for ten seconds, flinging out the feed if available. In terms of reviews, some users had a positive experience using this controller, stating that it was easy to set up and had a large screen with big easy to read font. Other users had negative experiences with the product, with some reporting malfunctions in less than a month and others having problems with the battery indicator in all units they bought. Some users also had issues with the controller working intermittently or not at all, while others rigged it to fit their feeder.
