What is Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty used for?

Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty is specifically designed for treating and repairing damaged hoof structures in horses. It effectively adheres to the hoof, filling gaps and cracks while promoting a natural healing environment. This product is particularly beneficial for horses suffering from issues like laminitis or thrush, where quick repair is essential. By forming a protective barrier, it also aids in preventing further damage, ensuring that horses can return to their optimal performance swiftly.

How do I apply Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty?

To apply Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty, first clean the damaged area of the hoof thoroughly. Then, take a small amount of the putty and mold it to fit the area needing repair. Ensure it is pressed firmly into the damaged parts of the hoof to create a proper seal. This method not only helps in effective adhesion but also ensures that the putty stays in place during movement. Regular checks should be performed to monitor the healing process and reapply as necessary.

How long does Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty last once applied?

Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty is designed to last several weeks once applied, but the duration may vary depending on the horse's activity level and the severity of the damage. As the horse moves, the putty endures wear and tear, so regular inspections are essential. If you notice wear or if the horse's hoof condition changes, it's advisable to reapply or consult with a veterinarian. This ensures optimal hoof health and performance over time.

Can Keratex KHP Hoof Putty be used on all types of hooves?

Yes, Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty is suitable for all types of hooves, thanks to its versatile formulation. Whether you have a horse with healthy hooves or one dealing with specific ailments, this putty can effectively aid in the healing process. However, it is always wise to assess each individual case, as certain severe conditions may require additional veterinary attention alongside the use of the putty.

Is Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty safe for horses?

Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty is formulated with the safety and health of horses in mind. It contains non-toxic ingredients, making it safe for application on all hoof types. It promotes natural hoof healing while minimizing the risk of adverse reactions. Nevertheless, it's always important to monitor your horse for any unusual signs after application and consult a veterinarian if concerns arise.

What are the main benefits of using Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty?

The main benefits of using Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty include rapid repair of damaged hooves, prevention of further deterioration, and creation of a protective barrier against infections. Whether dealing with minor cracks or more serious conditions, the putty helps ensure that your horse remains comfortable and active.

How does Keratex KHP Hoof Putty compare with other hoof repair products?

Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty stands out among hoof repair products due to its unique formulation that blends flexibility with durability. Unlike some alternatives that may crack or wear down quickly, Keratex maintains its structure and adheres effectively under different conditions. Its ability to support a moist healing environment while allowing the hoof to breathe also distinguishes it, making it a top choice for many equestrians.

Can Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty be used preventively?

Yes, many horse owners use Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty preventively to guard against foot injuries or environmental stressors, especially in performance horses. By applying a thin layer in high-risk areas, you can create a resilient surface that helps to minimize the chance of cracks or other damage. This proactive approach is particularly useful during wet or muddy conditions that can lead to hoof complications.

How should I store Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty?

Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the lid is securely closed after each use to prevent the product from drying out or becoming contaminated.
